yeah, regarding that post from last night? i was about 2.5 sheets to the wind. i hadn't drunk-blogged in a long time so i figured, what the H?
so while at Fuji last night, with Jenny and Diana, we started discussing how you can get in this jokey mood with people at work, and then turn to someone else, while still in this jokey mood, only to find that they are decidedly not jokey, and in fact annoyed at your jokiness.
you know what i mean? i call it a Banter-Spiral. you have all this witty, funny banter with a coworker and then you answer the phone like "hey, what's up!?" and the client on the other end of the line is like " (arrogant pause) um, good afternoon" in a grumpy voice.
i ALWAYS get caught in Banter Spirals at work. because i am kind of a jokey gal, and i work with some jokey people.
earlier today after joking around with my boss, I referred to an important client as "my peeps".
for some reason, he was not amused.
he should have been though.
being "my peeps" is fantastic.

Agh! I hate the banter spiral.
I always wind up doing an awkward dance when my jokes flop due to the banter spiral.
Really, what's wrong with lightening the mood?
I totally know where you're coming from! To make a long story short, I went through a phase last year calling people my "bitches" and let me tell you that is DEFINITELY something you can't take to the office.
