sometimes i think i like getting ready to go out, more than i actually like going out.
is that weird?
tomorrow is my good friend Danielle's birthday party and i am excited. while i am psyched to hang out with her, and other friends, and celebrate how damn old she is, i am slightly more excited to break out my new dark brown 3/4 sleeved cardigan with the faux fur collar and rhinestone buttons.
and you know since i have a new shirt, i had to go out and get a new autumnish red nail polish. and while i'm at it a new color lip gloss.
and tomorrow i will probably have to go shoe shopping to see if i can't find some kind of leopard pump.
i've always been like this. i think this is why in my clubbing years, we never got to the club before midnight* (at the earliest!) because we were too busy putting on makeup and picking out outfits and doing shots at Jill's house.
*(and this is Boston, people, where everything closes between 1 and 2AM except a few discreet after-hours place which are not really my scene anymore since they are the kind of places where one is expected to be putting something up one's nose or into one's veins and who is over 22 and that kind of thing anymore?)
maybe it's the anticipation? because at 8PM every night is a good night. you haven't left your apartment yet, the night holds endless possibilities, you have perhaps one or two glasses of pre-gaming wine coursing through your veins, and with every swipe of the mascara wand you think "damn, i look good"
(unlike at the end of the night when you are thinking the same thing but then a glance in the mirror shows distrubingly otherwise! as in "i don't even remember putting any glitter ON!" or "Funny, when i put this eyeliner on it did not look bright blue")
in any case, while i have been to quite a few bad parties and lame bars: i have never had a bad time getting ready to go to them.
