i really hate being hit on.

don't get me wrong. i am not saying "i am so hot, i get him on ALL THE TIME and it is SO ANNOYING". i am also not saying that i can't accept a compliment because i can and i do.

puh-lease.

i think what i really mean to say is there is a time and a place to compliment a lady. but there is no time or place appropriate to compliment a lady so much and in such a lewd manner that she is forced to say something to your boss (because yeah, you are acting like this in the place you work)

so i went to the gas station near my apartment for an overdue oil change after work yesterday. i had a long day at work, and traffic was a bear so i was not in the best of moods upon handing over my keys. but i settled in with my tattered copy of People and busied myself with that in the waiting room.

soon, one of the mechanics came in and sat down RIGHT next to me which right away perturbed me because there are about 10 empty seats. c'mon guy.

he immediately starts commenting on what i am reading, telling me he would like to see me in "that outfit" pointing to some starlet in a (rather sluttty) ballgown. that he likes my ankle tattoo, that he likes my shoes, that he likes the color of my top (hello! whenever a man mentions your top no matter what he says about he really means "Hello Tits!") and it didn't help that he was blatantly staring at my chest like he was daring me to say something about it. and so on.

really he was like that drunk guy at the bar who will NOT leave you alone and eventually the bartender has to cut in and tell him to back off. only i did not have the pleasure of being buzzed.

and it is one thing to get a "compliment" from someone. it is another thing when that someone is sitting right next to you and kind of leaning over you.

if this man HAS to act like this, it's fine, but i am 1) clearly not having it and 2) very tired after a long day at work and 3) stuck there with no place to go and no means to get there anyway because his coworker has my keys!

so finally the boss comes back and is like "isn't your car done yet?" and Mr. Hasn'tAClue is like "i hope not because then i can drive her home" (as if!). at which point his boss thankfully says "don't talk that way, she has a boyfriend. she LIVES with him" (Adam also goes to this establishment).

at which point my would be suitor replied "Girls today don't care about that".

say what? oh no you did not 1) insult my fabulous gender and then 2) lump me in with the .05% of the trash population that might actually think for a microsecond that doing anything with you would be a good idea.

oh no.

So i say, in my bitchiest tone "REALLY, i'm all set". and from then on did not look and/or speak and/or turn in his direction. luckily 5 minutes later my car was ready and his boss says to me "I knocked $5 for you nicely putting up with you know who". and i told him "I don't want the discount, just tell him I won't be coming back because of his behavior"

and honestly when i said it i was kind of tongue in cheek about it. but the boss was like "naw don't say that! he doesn't mean anything by it". blah blah. he was upset. and he apologized and Mr Perv apologized (and looked like i had verbally circumsized him) so i relented because 1) i enjoy discounts and 2) this is seriously a usually great place and conveniently located near my apartment and 3) i need my air filter changed and my tires rotated and balanced and i have a feeling that from now on Mr Jerk will not be a problem.

maybe i overreact. but i don't like anyone, especially someone whose company i am paying for a service, to treat me with even a hint of an iota of disrespect.

my momma taught me better than that.

Ew. There's a big difference between being complimentary and downright creepy. This guy was way out of line, and I'm glad you said what you did to his boss. It doesn't matter if he "doesn't mean it" - it still shouldn't happen. Fine, he wants to take a shot, ok....really, that shouldn't happen, but well, you are one hot momma so I can't blame the guy. But when you clearly aren't responding , he should back off!

You should have kicked him in the balls. And then you should have told his boss you didn't mean that either...

I'll never understand why some men think they are so entitled... who is it that teaches them that a woman (ANY woman) owes them anything? I get so disgusted with men like that. Let them call me a bitch, I'll wear it proudly.
