as i grow older and older, i realize that i really only have the stamina these days for one night of funa nd one day of fun, on the weekends. so if i go out friday, i am in on saturday. and if i am out all day saturday, i am pretty much useless on sunday.
at least this is how things have been playing out lately.
on friday night, me + adam, jeanne + her fiancee chris and jenny + her boyfriend matt went out to eat in the north end of Boston at Ristorante Euno which is the exact kind of small, dimly lit, divinely decorated, perfectly Italian restaurant i have always wanted to try. we ordered bottles of wine and plates of things like veal scalopini and ghnocchi con pesto. it was delicious. afterwards we walked over to Cafe Pompei for espresso, cappucino and canolis. it was all in all, a perfect, Itlaian night. next month we are doing Chinese food in Chinatown. look out!
the next day, adam and i woke up early to go volunteer at the Cradles to Crayons Katrina Donation Drive at Gilette Stadium.

we spent a few hours helping to sort clothing for babies and kids. i hadn't thought about how this affected kids yet..but when you are holding a little onesie destined for Lousiana, you can't help think "this hurricane is affecting people who can fit into this tiny piece of clothing". although that was depressing, it was a nice feeling to help, and we were happy to do it.
we then trekked from Foxboro to Hingham to meet jeanne, chris and diana at the Fruit Center "Customer Appreciation" party where we dined on hot dogs, steak, sandwiches and ice cream that were all my favorite thing: FREE. then we headed over to Stars for some beer and to watch the Sox game.
adam and i returned home around 4PM and then went on a bike ride from which i am still recovering. going off roading on your non-mountain bike may seem like lots of fun, and it is, but you will bruise. ...and it will not be in a nice place. yowza! we did find some new routes that take us exclusively by the ocean, and that was beautiful..
aftter that we settled in for the night with chinese food, magazines and lots of bad TV.
and of course Sunday i did nothing. not a damn thing. except feebly ask Adam to wash a pair of pants of mine with the load he was doing. i would have done it myself, but HELLO they were showing the miniseries "Aristocrats" in its entirety on PBS. i was glued.
so, tonight = dinner with my parents followed by excessive mooching in the form of free food, free laundry and hopefully raiding their mountainous paper towel supply so that i don't have to go to CVS on the way home.
because i am that lazy
and old.

I went from that lovely dinner/dessert evening directly to a show and then the next day a 2 day wedding reception in the mountains. Now wonder why I have a cold. GRRR.
Chinatown!! YAY!
Girl, if you are old I don't even want to THINK about what that makes me!
