lately i have really been getting my comeuppance*.

it's true.

yesterday, i hung up on a telemarketer. not in a terribly rude way, but not in the nicest way either. i was at work and she was like "can i talk to you for a few minutes about your security system" and i was like "no thanks!" and hung up. then, two minutes later, she called me back and was like "don't hang up on me. i am trying to help YOU out by offering you a new security system. the least you can do is hear me out". and what do you say to that??? so i sat listening to her go on about new rates and new plans until finally i was like "i have no authority to make this decision and my boss is on vacation" but i was scared to hang up again so i waited for her to hang up first.

and then this morning i was test driving my new shortcut from the highway to my office which brings me past the T station. and i was behind a man in a BMW who was looking for street parking but being VERY picky about it. he kept slowing down, stopping, then speeding up again. so i sped up and passed him in the other lane and he FOLLOWED me to the convenience store 20 feet away that I stopped at, pulled up behind my car, and when I got out and told me (yelled at me) i should "what's the big hurry!! slow down or you'll hurt someone!".

i basically ran into the store after that.

but irate-telemarketer woman and angry-car-man have a point. i should not hang up on telemarketers (they are just trying to earn a living!) and i should not drive on the wrong side of the street just because i am in a hurry.

but still, what's with these people telling me what's what?!

i'm not a fan.

i think that if i had been at home i would have been more irate to that telemarketer. but it was at work, and my boss was right next to me and there were clients waiting next to my desk so i couldn't bring myself to be like "f you, lady!". i should have though. haha.

I hate telemarketers and I used to do their job!! I had people be very rude to me--swear at me, hang up on me--so I know how it feels, but I'm still going to do the same to whoever calls me. They are invading my personal life and I don't give a shit about whatever they have to sell... I can't believe that woman called you back. You could have asked to speak to her supervisor... she might be dangerous. Maybe she's going the telemarketer version of Postal and will blow up the building or something... Next time, if your boss is standing right there, you should just hang up without saying anything and explain that it was a wrong number.

I can't believe she called you back! Now when they call us we just remind them we are on the Do Not Call List and ask again for the name of their company. That usually takes care of the problem. HA! The thing with the BMW guy...he had a lot of nerve too.
