i have to tell you: an hour makes a big difference.
especially when that hour is an hour of sleep that you lose now because your brand spankin' new work hours effective at the start of 2005 change from nine am - five pm to eight am - five pm.
i thought i wouldn't feel that hour. but i totally do.
normally, i awake at 7:30AM now, i must be up at 6:30AM.
and i mean, i am not a total wimp. when i worked in the city i maintained these hours quite frequently but i also had the luxury of a 30-40 minute train ride during which i could snooze/zone out/stare unabashadly at strangers.
now i have to drive for that 30 -40 minutes. and concentrate, somewhat. so that people with W2004 stickers don't get in front of me (a pet peeve i have).
and i realize now that my kicking of the caffeine habit was a farce, because the first thing i did when i hit work was buy a large iced lattee...something i haven't done in over a month.
(speaking of kicking habits: i haven't had a cigarette since thanksgiving...but i didn't want to say anything because i didn't want to jinx myself, but don't give me too much credit because in order to do this i stopped drinking except for a glass of wine here and there so as soon as i hit the martini hard i am sure i will be at 7-11 faster than you can say "emphesema" buying a pack or 4 of marlboro ultra lights 100s)

first, awesome that you stopped smoking!! i know how hard it is to quit(i've seen cooper try SO many times)...yay for you!
god, i hate work. i keep telling cooper that he better hurry up and make some money (right, right) b/c i hate working...and then he laughes and tells me about his day--which consists of him working on his feet, in a suit, for 12 1/2 hours...and then i feel guilty.
how long have you and adam been dating, by the way?
i know, right! this "working for a living" deal is not working out for me. adam and i have been together for 1 year and 2 months. it seems like many years sometimes, i swear.
Sarah, I think I was behind you going to work this morning, though I don't know how that would be possible. It was at the intersection on the B'tree/Quincy line - by the old Adams House (the tiny one across from a dance studio). It was definitely your make/model car and I would swear your license plate ... but I coulnd't figure out how you would have gotten to that intersection on the way to work ....

it probably was me! was the passenger side mirror hanging pathetically down the side of the car? that is a tell tale sign that it is me. i go that way to get to 128..it's the quickest, non-trafficy way.
LOL. Welcome to the New Year! Not. Making such adjustments, especially MULTIPLE changes all at the same time, is tough. Just make sure you run over a couple of those W2004 stickers each day and you'll be fine. ;)

I've essentially kicked the cigs along with the drinking during the week as well - and am now working on the caffeine. I'm drinking decaf green tea with honey in hopes that the warm drink plus sweetness of the honey will placebo me enough to not miss the caffeine.
We'll see how that goes around 3pm when I'll probably get a brain crushing withdrawal headache!
