why do people with babies think they are so cool? it's not like it's difficult to have one..i myself could have one now if i wanted...as could anyone i know. (why on god's earth i would, i don't know). but it seems like people with babies are convinced not only that everyone is interested in/likes their baby, but also that they should get some sort of special treatment on the t, the sidewalk, in starbucks than those of us who have been able to restrain ourselves from procreating.

i am serious. i was in starbucks this morning and the woman in front of me had a baby in a stroller. it was not even a particularly cute baby as it was sucking on a candy stick and had yellow goo all over it's ginormous face. anyway, this woman and her baby-in-stroller took up the whole space in front of the registers even though she had already placed her order and, as everyone knows, should have moved down to the barista counter to wait for her order. Instead, she chose to crouch in front of the stroller and make those godawful baby noises while her baby beat his (her?) sticky fists in the air and made some sort of gurgly-belching sound. this went on for a full minute. meanwhile i cannot reach the register to pay for my iced coffee and must have said "excuse me" 2 or 3 times. Perhaps if i had instead "escoozey woozey me!?" and been smiling stupidly then she would have understood me.

there is also a woman in my office who left recently because she had a baby and she constantly shows up here with the thing in tow. Now. i will admit that this baby is cute, but that does not mean i want to touch and or hold it. but everytime she comes in this is what I end up doing for anywhere from a minute to several. I actually said once, blatantly "i don't like babies" and it didnt even register with the woman. She was like "but you like this ine!". I was like "get away, i am about to go louise woodward on your ass".

ok maybe it's not that bad. but i dont understand the big deal about babies. i mean everyone can have one. now, a BIRKIN bag, that is something to be proud of. no everyone can have one of those. i would gladly hold someone's Birkin bag for them. Of let a lady with a Birkin bag take up too much line in the Starbucks line....but that is just me i suppose.
