Well, the fall lines are upon us, and I don't know about you but I am THRILLED.

Now, I just could NOT get enough of shorts this summer, so imagine my happiness at the arrival of "Winter Shorts".

I think we can all agree that this is something that we has been missing in our lives. It's nice to know I no longer have to dread the changing of seasons. If I play my cards right, shorts can see me through to Christmas!

What about the gal who steals blankets off of airplanes and wishes there was some way she could incorporate her collection into her wardrobe? Well, her season has come.

I myself have an old AlItalia blanket that I have been dying to wear out for cocktails. I see now that that is acceptable. Score!

And if you are anything like me, you will be glad about this next new style. Now, when I am hanging out at home by myself, I like to dress up like an orphan from Oliver Twist. And I am always like "GOD this would be the perfect outfit to wear out to dinner next week but it's not "in" so I can't!". So imagine my delight when I saw these new looks paraded out and about

Could I be any luckier? It's like all the big designers read my mind and have made all my fashion dreams come true. This fall/winter looks to be the most flattering, classic and gorgeous season of clothing yet!

I can hardly wait.

formal shorts = proof that people will wear anything if they see it in a magazine.

Right on K and E. that is why my love for Talbots will never die.

Little sarcasm, anyone? Lol.

Phew! Thank god it wasn't just me who was horrified at the upcoming fall "fashions". In the fall fashion preview sections of my magazines, I also saw over-the top plads and capes (as in "I'm on a Scottish Moor"), platform shoes, and knit ultra mini dresses. Ugh!!!

I remember one season a few years ago, they were promoting capri-length SILK cargo pants with strappy heels. (Ew! What???) I actually saw some moronic trend slave trotting around in that ridiculous ensemble. I'm sure there will be Oliver Twist sightings this fall.

Heidi Klum tried to rock some formal shorts on Project Runway last night.... sad sad times

LOL Erin. that reminds me of when I worked at Contempo (jealous?) senior year in high school. We were "encouraged" to wear the styles in the store i.e. dress like skanks. It was good times.

Erin, I can't believe you remember the exact year = LOL!!! I am SO SORRY you had to wear those.

Cargo pants were the uniform of RISD illustrators for some reason. To see my favorite (very practical) pant transformed into something frilly and entirely uselsess was just sacrilege! To me, it was like making a 100% vintage lace potholder. What's the point if you can't use it for its intended purpose?

So, I was more bitter than most about that trend.

Nicky, that was very well put!

count me in amongst the people momentarily duped by your straight-faced saracasm! i was like "huh? whaaa?" and then we got to blanket shirts and it all became clear.

and does it make me a bad person that i kinda didn't mind heidi's shorts ensemble on PR last night? i know, the shame!! but it's true.

you don't have to feel bad! Heidi is so hot she can wear whatever she wants and i will think it's ok.

Just for the record: I HATED Heidi's Oompa Loompa look last night!
Don't ask me why I think it was Oompa Loompa-y. It just. was.

i havent been watching PR this season, but i when i think of OOmpa Loompas, i think of leiderhosen, which are a type of formal short with suspenders. so if that is what she was wearing then jeanne your assessment is correct.

The worst outfit in this post is the first row, far right. Those shoes have got to go.

Sarah - can you please, please, please wear an Oliver Twist ensemble to the Boston Blogger Summit?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, look at Jenny's post today. :)

Oh my god, Oliver Twist? Fashion Week comes but once a year, but the newsies look is forever.

This was awesome.
I can see it now, a blanket, some leggings, with shorts, and an Oliver Twist hat to "cap" it off (I'm on a roll now...)

Fashion has never been better!

happy opposite day!

Yeah, when it's minus 40C (which I cannot give you in farenheit, my little American friends, because my stupid converter widget apparently does not comprehend the "-" symbol... but +40C is, like, 104F) I will TOTALLY be wearing those winter shorts. With heels. In 24" of snow.

YEAH.

LOL. Thanks for the update I just don't have time to keep up with what is coming in fashion this season. Now I am glad I haven't paid attention. I knew I should have stolen the airline blanket today. Maybe next week.
